Altrincham Kersal Women's Rugby Club is pleased to announce its most recent fundraising partnership with Sandbach Voices Choir. The partnership is the brainchild of Victoria Brookes, coach of AKWRFC whose husband Duncan Muir, is a member.
"Last year my husband joined Sandbach Voices and since then I and some team members have heard the choir sing twice and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Whilst chatting after the Christmas concert I enquired whether the Choir ever sang with an orchestra. I learnt that though it would be a really fun thing to sing with an orchestra accompanying and probably encourage further people to attend and enjoy the concerts, the expense of hiring an orchestra which was in the region of £5,000 per concert, was the main reason why it had not been possible. This gave me an idea to combine the fundraising I was undertaking for Altrincham Kersal Women's Rugby team with fundraising for the Choir in order to generate great publicity and funds for both parties involved. Further discussion that followed formed the basis of the AKWRFC and Sandbach Voices Fundraising Partnership
As an avid fundraiser Vicky has organised a number of fundraising opportunities over the last 6 years of which this is to be described as one of the most entertaining. Her past efforts have seen her raise £5,000 for the Breast Cancer Campaign and £5,000 for The Pituitary Foundation by organising a 12 Hour Rugby Match Tournament that has seen women's rugby clubs across the country coming together at a single venue to partake in a 12 hour rugby marathon. Her efforts through weekly raffles and sweepstakes during major sporting events have also ensured a continual source of additional funding for AKWRFC who are sponsored by RPG Marketing.
