On November the 11th Sandbach Town Hall was the venue for a wonderful tribute to all those who gave their lives in the service of their country.
Sandbach Voices performed Haydn's Nelson Mass followed by the very moving Mass of the Armed Man - A Mass for Peace by Karl Jenkins. This stunning performance was accompanied by a presentation of visual images of war and of its effects on those caught up in it.
The packed audience sat still and silent with just the occasional flicker of movement as someone dabbed their eyes with their handkerchief. Finally there was an eruption of applause as the singers and musicians received a standing ovation.
The concert was attended by the Mayor of Congleton and the Chairman of Sandbach Town Council and other civic dignitaries. Ann Winterton MP, a regular attendee of Sandbach Voices concerts, was also in attendance.
Sandbach Voices always welcome new singers, men or women. There is no audition, all you need is a love of music. Rehearsals are every Tuesday evening at 7:30pm in the Hancock Hall at the rear of Wheelock Methodist Church.
