Elijah Concert
An awesome performance was how Saturday’s performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah by Sandbach Voices on March 17th was described.
The mayor of Congleton and officials from Sandbach Town Council were amongst the large audience to listen to this feast of musical ability at St. Mary’s Church, Sandbach.
Singers of all age ranges from treble Michael Blayney, a first year music scholar at the Grange School, Hartford to veteran Bass Wilfred Holland, a 94 year old member of Sandbach Voices. Malbank school senior boys worked throughout the day setting up the sound system they provided, enhancing both the orchestra and the singers whilst the girls undertook to cater for more than 200 people.
The Choir has a remit to work with and encourage young people to participate in our performances in any way their particular talent takes them.
The next concert will be on May 19 in St. Mary's Church Hall, Sandbach when music from various well known composers will be performed.
